Midwest Dance Collective is centered on the belief that dance is for everyone and that exceptional quality training should be received at every level. Our mission is to instill the love and joy of dance in our students and provide a nurturing environment for dancers of all ages and experience levels. Through training and mentorship from industry professionals at MDC, we create an atmosphere for young dancers to come together and celebrate all that art and dance offer.

We believe dance training should be a comprehensive and cohesive experience rooted in a technical foundation with an emphasis on education. Through intentional, versatile, and developmentally appropriate training, we place value and focus on the dancers’ health, wellness, and safety. Dance offers powerful lessons in teaching us how to be confident and well-rounded human beings. Acquiring these life skills helps us contribute to society in a positive and impactful way. Dance brings us together, and together we can accomplish anything!

Before pursuing collegiate dance training and ultimately leading into successful decade-long career in dance performance and the arts industry, our passion and desire for dance began much closer to home. In fact, our dance training is rooted in the same town where we are now opening a shop for the next generation.

Rooted in Ankeny, Iowa it’s a full circle moment for us to be coming home and creating a new space for community in the Des Moines Metro for dancers of all ages and abilities.

At MDC you will find a space where you are safe to explore the joy of movement in whatever capacity suits you best. Whether it’s your very first dance class, you’re preparing for a career in dance, or you’re coming back to dance after several years away, we are here to support you in every way!

You can trust that classes will be taught by experienced and certified instructors with an emphasis on education, dancer wellness and safety, and joy!

We believe Midwest Dance Collective will leave monumental lasting impacts on our dancers and greater community! You belong here. 🤍

Kind Words

“I first met Ms. Theresa when I was 8 years old. I had been dancing ballet for 3 years but had never had any additional jazz or modern training. With her classes I gained a new understanding and love for dance outside of classical based ballet. I immediately fell in love with her kind personality and the respect she had for her students. With her care and knowledge I gained a higher love for the art I’d still be invested in 9 years later. Throughout my years of training Ms. Theresa has been there for me and I have improved as a result of her being my teacher.”
